Year 7 Netball

Year 7A Netball
Sale High
The team took on a new-to-the-group Sale High team and, based on previous results, we knew it was going to be a tough game. We’d lost a few players to injury, so we took just 7 players. The first quarter ended 6-1 to Sale High and the team didn’t stop fighting throughout. A strong and very tall attack pushed defenders Irene Akande and Bodhita Dhungana to play the best netball they possibly could. The game ended with a convincing victory from Sale High with Ava Wong being named ‘Player of the Match’ by the opposition.
Sale Grammar and AOM
The second and third games this week saw the same 7 players take on both teams on the same night. The first game was against Sale Grammar and the opposition made a strong start. The first quarter ended without us scoring. The game was much more even after this but the damage was already done. The shooting combination of Ava Wong and Katrina Hussamou struggled to get into a strong shooting position. The game ended with a strong win for Sale Grammar, with Matilda Hession being named ‘Player of the Match’ by the opposition.
The second game was against AOM and this game gave us a chance to show what we’re made of. The loss of the first game was nowhere to be seen, and we started the game very strong with a 6-0 win after the first quarter. We continued to pull ahead and were 10-1 ahead at half-time. The tiredness from the first game did start to creep in and AOM started to pull some goals back in the second half of the game. We were able to hold them off and the game finished with a 14-9 win and Katrina Hussamou was named ‘Player of the Match’ by the opposition.
