GCSE Art Retreat at Conway Centre
A productive and creative time in beautiful surroundings
Year 10 and Year 11 Art students visited the Conway centre in Anglesey for an Art residential weekend. Students worked with tutors to produce artwork exploring the theme of ‘Mapping the Landscape’. Students worked incredibly hard across the three days to produce a mini-GCSE project which culminated in a final piece which was then exhibited on the final day. A variety of works exploring Fine Art painting, contemporary sculpture, textiles and printmaking was produced as students learnt new techniques to incorporate into their projects back in school. Mr Lea and Miss Khadem also produced a painting and a textile piece – it was lovely to have the opportunity to work alongside the students outside of a school environment in a collaborative studio environment. It was a busy weekend with long days spent in the studio completing the work, but students did find the time to explore the grounds of the Conway Centre and Plas Newydd, which are beautiful - even on a grey and windy January day! We were very proud of the work our students produced and the way they engaged with all the activities and tutors across the weekend. Well done Art stars! – Mrs Penny-Collings
