Students Gain Insights at JCB Visit

Key Stage 4 and Key Stage 5 Students Visit the JCB

Forty-seven Key Stage 4 and Key Stage 5 students from Stretford Grammar School recently embarked on an educational visit to the JCB Factory, organised by the Business and Economics departments. The trip aimed to deepen students' understanding of key concepts such as the design process, manufacturing techniques, and the business perspective of production, all of which are integral to their GCSE and A-Level syllabi.

The visit began with a warm welcome, including refreshments, and a short presentation in the JCB Theatre. The presentation provided an overview of JCB’s global manufacturing facilities and products, offering students a comprehensive look at the scale and scope of the company’s operations.

Following this, students embarked on an immersive factory tour, observing the intricate process of assembling the iconic Backhoe Loader machine. This hands-on experience allowed them to connect theoretical knowledge from their studies to real-world applications, enhancing their understanding of production and operations management.

To cap off the visit, students had the opportunity to explore the JCB Shop, adding a fun and interactive element to the day.

The visit was a resounding success, with students gaining valuable insights that will undoubtedly benefit their studies. Such opportunities underscore the commitment of Stretford Grammar School’s Business and Economics departments to providing enriching, practical experiences that complement classroom learning.

A big thank you to JCB for hosting our students and to the teachers who made this insightful trip possible. Well done to all involved! Mrs. Platt said, “The visit to JCB was an invaluable experience for our students, offering them a unique opportunity to see how theoretical concepts are applied in real-world settings. We are grateful to JCB for their hospitality and staff for organising such an enriching trip.”
