Year 10 Geographers spend a day in the sand dunes of Ainsdale

Year 10 Geographers.......

.....completed the first of two days of fieldwork they needed to complete for GCSE Geography last week. Over two blustery and grey days, with only forlorn glimpses of the sun, students visited Ainsdale beach to investigate the changing nature of sand dunes. Students got to grips with clinometers, quadrats and anemometers to record changes in vegetation and slop profile of the dune system. This provided students with a great opportunity to collect data that we will analyse as part of their exam preparation, as well as see Geography in action.

Year 10 Geographers took to fieldwork like naturals, recording complex data and building upon their knowledge from the classroom. Our students’ behaviour was fantastic throughout the day, and they were a credit to the school.
