Year 8 Netball News
Year 8A Netball Thursday 25th January
The Year 8A team travelled to Flixton Girls for their second fixture of the season. In a tough first game, the team played BTH and showed a great improvement in their overall game play and movement down court. The game ended 6-1 to BTH but the girls fought all the way to the final whistle and took what they learnt from that game into the next, against Flixton. This game really showed how much the team as a whole had improved and, after a strong start, leading at half-time 4-2, the team held on to the lead and the game finished with a 6-5 win. Emma Horsley played some fabulous netball and worked really well in the shooting circle with Eva Simpson. The final game was against North Cestrian and the team, yet again, demonstrated some outstanding netball moving down the court. Isobel Lee, Darcey Robinson and Amber Cowgill in defence played incredibly well, not letting the opposition see the ball. The game ended with a 9-1 win and Isobel Lee being named player of the game.
Year 8B Netball Thursday 25th January
The Year 8B team travelled to Sale High for their second fixture of the season. The teams first game against the home team saw a nervous start, with the score being 1-1 at half-time. But confidence was found in the second half and the team surged to a 5-2 win. Moving to Urmston Grammar school, the team took confidence from the first win and ended the game as 8-0 winners. Special mentions go out to Emily Rawlings and Maali Ibrahim-Ryan who played some lovely netball, getting the ball into the circle and, after joining netball late earlier this year, Benny Egbeobawaye played fantastically at Centre.
