Year 8 Rugby Success

Destructive from the kick-off, with well communicated passing.....

.....from Fly Half, Aaron Owen, out to Inside Centre Finley Saks-Huish allowed Stretford Grammar to run through wide areas of the pitch to score a brace early on. Shortly after, Damon Acha touched down on the wing after a short burst of pace making the score 15-0 The second half began well and Stretford Grammar began to contest the Wellington scrums with great strength and cohesion. Macauley Horrax received the ball and skipped his way through to increase the score to 20-0.  However, the opposition came battling back and close the gap to 20-5.

In the latter stages of the game, Richard McClean offloaded the ball beautifully to Joe Pope who sprinted 20m to score Stretford Grammar School's fifth try. Finally, two consecutive “You’re not going anywhere!” tackles from Finley Saks-Huish forced Wellington to lose control of the ball and Aaron Owen eventually went over the line to make the Final Score 30-5. Congratulations to Finley on receiving Player of the Match and all 17 Stretford Grammar players. Excellent performances from Fraser, Joe and Eli despite playing for the opposition, made the game an entertaining contest.
