Stretford Grammar School Year 11 Retreat

A Thrilling Adventure at Condover Hall

Over 40 Year 11 students from Stretford Grammar School recently embarked on an unforgettable retreat to the JCA Activity Centre at Condover Hall. This three-day trip provided students with a much-needed break from the pressures of GCSE preparation while allowing them to build confidence, teamwork, and resilience through a variety of exciting outdoor activities.

Students had the opportunity to participate in a range of adventurous challenges, including circus skills, survival training, aerial trekking, a climbing wall, orienteering, and conquest. These activities not only tested their physical and mental endurance but also helped to strengthen friendships and boost morale. The first evening was a relaxing film night, where students unwound with their peers, while the second evening saw them gathered around a campfire, sharing stories and enjoying the warmth of the flames.

Miss Ashall, the trip leader, praised the students for their enthusiasm and teamwork throughout the retreat: "It was wonderful to see the students fully engaged in the activities, stepping out of their comfort zones, and supporting one another. The retreat was a fantastic experience, and I’m incredibly proud of how they embraced each challenge."

Headteacher Mr Mullins also highlighted the significance of the retreat in providing a balance between academic rigour and well-being: "This trip was a perfect opportunity for our Year 11 students to take a step back from their studies and recharge. The skills they developed over these few days will be invaluable, not just for their exams, but for their personal growth as well."

The Year 11 retreat to Condover Hall was a resounding success, leaving students with wonderful memories and a renewed sense of motivation as they continue their GCSE journey. Stretford Grammar School remains committed to supporting its students academically, socially, and emotionally, ensuring they are well-equipped for the challenges ahead.
