Wood Street Mission Donations 2024

Stretford Grammar School Pupils Deliver Festive Cheer to Wood Street Mission

In a heartwarming act of generosity, pupils at Stretford Grammar School have spread festive joy this holiday season by contributing an incredible amount of donations to the Wood Street Mission. Over 17 boxes and 3 large bags filled with gifts were collected and delivered to the local charity, ensuring that families in need can enjoy a brighter Christmas. The donations included a wide array of items, from toys and books to clothing and essentials, all thoughtfully chosen to bring smiles to children and families supported by the mission. The school community rallied together, demonstrating the power of collective kindness and the impact it can have on those facing challenging times.

Wood Street Mission, a charity dedicated to supporting low-income families in Greater Manchester, expressed their gratitude for the remarkable contribution. Their spokesperson noted, “The generosity shown by the pupils and staff at Stretford Grammar School will make a significant difference to the families we support. It’s wonderful to see young people taking such an active role in giving back to their community.”

Headteacher, Mr Mullins, praised the students' efforts, saying, “We are incredibly proud of our pupils for their compassion and commitment to helping others. This initiative reflects the core values of our school, and it’s inspiring to see our young people making such a positive impact.”

The success of this year’s donation drive builds on Stretford Grammar School’s long-standing tradition of supporting local charities. The school hopes to continue fostering a culture of empathy and generosity amongst its students, encouraging them to remain active contributors to their community. As the holiday season unfolds, the efforts of these young philanthropists serve as a reminder of the true spirit of Christmas: coming together to share kindness and support those in need. Thanks to their contributions, many families will have a reason to smile this festive season. A special thank you to our Attendance Officer, Mrs Townsend, for coordinating the donations.
