Competing against Urmston, Sale High and Wellington and captained by Rufta Amanuel, the team took on Wellington in their first game. The team were dominant from the first whistle and the game finished with a 2-0 win. The second game against Sale High started positively, with the team going 2-0 up at half-time. Sale High tried to bring it back in the second half with a strong defence, but we held out and held on to win 2-0. The last game of the day saw us take on Urmston and this game really showed us at our best. The game ended with a 6-2 win and made way for a new shooter, Amelia Carroll. Special mentions go out to the players who played in defence – Eve Tarpey, Fiza Hamid, Emilia Poole and Rufta Amanuel – who played with strength in every game. The Year 9 coaches, Eva Woodcock and Maali Ibrahim-Ryan chose Amelia Carroll as their player of the game as she really came into her own in the new position of Goal Attack.
