Stretford Grammar Rocks the Trafford Battle of the Bands!

Musical Promise from our Students
Stretford Grammar School made an unforgettable impact at the Trafford Battle of the Bands on Saturday, 1st February, with more entries than any other local school. The event showcased the incredible musical talent of our students, leaving the audience thoroughly impressed.
A special congratulations goes to our Year 7 band, who made history as the youngest ever band to enter the competition! Performing with enthusiasm and determination, they overcame their nerves to deliver a fantastic performance. Likewise, the Year 8 girls' band made their own mark as the first-ever all-girl band to participate in the event. Their courage and talent shone through, and if you see them around school, be sure to congratulate them. Both bands will be performing again at the Spring Concert—so don’t miss the chance to see them in action!
The highlight of the night was the incredible success of Firehawks, our Year 11 band from last year. Their impressive original song won ‘Best Original Song’ and secured them a place in the Trafford finals at the prestigious Band on the Wall in March. As part of their prize, they now have the opportunity to record their track in a professional studio—an amazing achievement that we can all be proud of!
Adding to the excitement, the organiser of Stretfest was in the audience and was so impressed by our school’s performances that they have invited a few of our bands to perform at The Head in Stretford on Saturday, 1st March. This is a fantastic opportunity for our students to showcase their talent to the wider community and represent Stretford Grammar on another great stage.
Mrs Swales, our dedicated music teacher, was immensely proud of all the students who took part, saying: “It’s wonderful to see our students pushing boundaries and making history at the Battle of the Bands. Their hard work and passion for music truly paid off, and I can’t wait to see where their musical journeys take them next.”
Well done to everyone involved—you’ve made Stretford Grammar proud!
